Overnight oats, three ways

Five minutes on a Sunday night and Monday-to-Wednesday breakfast is already in the fridge. These are the three we actually rotate — nothing exotic, all from a corner shop.

The base never changes: oats, milk, a spoon of yoghurt, a pinch of salt. The toppings are where the three ways live.

Ingredients

  • Base (per jar): 50g oats · 100ml milk · 2 tbsp yoghurt · pinch of salt
  • Apple & cinnamon: grated apple · cinnamon · drizzle of honey
  • Banana & peanut: sliced banana · spoon of peanut butter
  • Cocoa & cherry: 1 tsp cocoa · frozen cherries · dark chocolate shaving

Method

  1. Mix the base ingredients straight into each jar — oats, milk, yoghurt, salt. Give it a proper stir so nothing's left dry at the bottom.
  2. Stir through the flavourings, lid on, fridge overnight (they keep three days happily — the texture gets better, not worse).
  3. Eat cold from the jar, or 60 seconds in the microwave if the morning needs a warm breakfast. Loosen with a splash of milk if it's gone too thick.
